Bainbridge Island

Welcome to Bainbridge Island, Washington which lies just 9 miles west of Seattle.  It is a 35 minute ferry ride or 1 1/2 hour drive from downtown Seattle.  So close to a big city but so far removed from the hustle and bustle.  Bainbridge is home to over 25,000 residents, many of whom commute to work in Seattle (or at least use to before COVID) but reside on “the rock”.  Bainbridge consists of 65 square miles and is known for it’s small-town-rural-feel.  There are condos, townhomes, apartments, boats, farms, houses on small lots, houses on acreage, many wonderful eclectic living styles to fit everyone’s needs.  There are 3 elementary schools, 1 intermediate school, 1 middle school and 2 high schools (both of which are housed on the same campus).  You will find many preschool and private school alternatives on the Island as well.  This is a hiking, biking and walking community and we take our downtown festivities seriously.  We close off our downtown streets to host parades, 4 of July celebrations, Halloween activities, etc.  You just might have to wait a few seconds longer at a stop sign because people stop and wave and say hello.
